Maps IELTS Task 1.

Time: one hour 

This test consists of two separate writing tasks. You must answer both tasks.

Writing Task 120 minutes150 wordsDescribe and summarize visual information. The information may be presented in a diagram, map, graph, or table.
Writing Task 240 minutes250 wordsWrite a discursive essay. You will be given an opinion, problem, or issue that you need to respond to. You may be asked to provide a solution, evaluate a problem, compare and contrast different ideas, or challenge an idea.

You will be assessed on the following criteria: 

  • Task Achievement: It means that you have successfully addressed the specific requirements of each writing task.
  • Coherence and Cohesion: It focuses on how well you organize and structure your written responses, ensuring that your ideas are logically connected and your writing is easy to follow.
  • Lexical Resource: Lexical resource evaluates your ability to use a wide range of vocabulary appropriately and effectively in your writing.
  • Grammatical Range and Accuracy: It assesses your ability to use a wide variety of sentence structures.

Writing Task 2 is worth twice as much as Writing Task 1. ( Maps IELTS Task 1 ).
